Transport to Lima Airport for flight to Puerto Maldonado
Upon your arrival in Puerto Maldonado, Peru´s Capital City of Biodiversity, we will greet you at the airport. Then, we´ll start our program with a visit around the city, on a bus.
Afterward, we will go to Puerto Capitanía, to board a motorized riverboat, and we´ll be traveling on the Madre de Dios River. During the journey, we will submerge ourselves into a fascinating natural environment, if we are lucky we will witness Ronsocos, Caimans, Turtles, Herons, Cormorants, pink river dolphins and other animal species in their natural environment.
Arriving at the Ecoamazonia Lodge, we will enjoy an exquisite traditional welcome drink, we´ll get settled in our bungalows and we will have lunch together.
CAIMÁN COCHA
Once satisfied, you will be escorted by our specialized jungle tour guide through an interpretive trail conveniently signposted to the Caimán Cocha, a small lake with an abundant presence of specimens of Black Caiman (Melanosuchus Niger) and Caiman (Caiman Crocodilus).
At the end of the day you will witness an amazing Amazon sunset. It’s one that will take your breath away! An intense spectacular palette of colors overwhelming your senses!
Upon returning to the Lodge, a delicious dinner will be awaiting you. After dinner there is a bar to enjoy all the drinks you can imagine and free time to share unforgettable moments with each other. There is also an excellent game room to finish off your day.
After breakfast, we will start an adventure in the virgin rainforest, and accompanied by a local jungle guide. We´ll go on a hike in the deep jungle, to get to the Lost Cocha which constitutes a refuge and feeding ecosystem for a huge variety of animals. We´ll have the chance to observe Otters, Caimans, Turtles, Sachavacas (Tapirs) Birds with multicolored feathers, the majestic Jaguar and a variety of fish species. This area is unique and proper to the Ecoamazonia´s Ecological Reserve which maintains it, with huge swamps and diverse “aguajales”.
Then, we´ll get to the extraordinary Observation Deck, from which we´ll be able to appreciate the immense and magical rainforest. Afterward, we´ll have a pleasant canoe ride around the lake and will return to the lodge for lunch.
MONKEY ISLAND
In the afternoon, accompanied by our specialized jungle guide, we will visit Monkey Island, a unique place in the heart of Madre de Dios River, five minutes away from the Lodge. During the hike, we will observe extraordinary landscapes, with an exuberant flora, sheltering a variety of monkey species, in their natural habitat, such as Maquisapas, Capuchins, Small Lion Monkeys, Frailes, Cotos and other animal species like the Coati and Sloths and a great variety of birds.
Finally, we´ll complete our visit of the island, enjoying the amazing Amazon sunset again. Back at the lodge we will conclude the day with a pleasant dinner.
After a restful night’s sleep, the morning begins with the sound of beautiful birdsongs from the Amazon Paradise. In our dining room awaits a farewell breakfast before embarking on the return to Puerto Maldonado and transport to the airport to board the flight to Cuzco.
Upon arriving in the city of Cuzco, you will be welcomed by one of our representatives, who will give you a brief introduction to the city and our services while en route to the hotel.
You will be free for the rest of the morning so that you can adjust to the altitude.
OPTIONAL: Cuzco City Tour
13:15 See this magical city, capital of the Inca Empire (15th Century) on a tour that includes the Main Square, the cathedral, Santo Domingo monastery, the legendary Korikancha temple and a stop at San Cristobal for a panoramic view of the city. Then, in the outskirts you will see the Inca ruins at Sacsayhuaman, an impressively designed fortress built of huge stone blocks, Qenqo ceremonial and ritual center, the amphitheater where sacrifices were held and Tambomachay a temple dedicated to a water cult. Return to Cuzco and a brief stop at Plaza Regocijo and the Main Square to visit the cathedral, the principal church of the Diocese of Cuzco. At the end of the visit, transport to your hotel.
You will be transported from your hotel in Cuzco at dawn (4:00 hrs.) towards Valle Sur, driving for 3 hours until reaching Pitumarca and take the road to Quesiuno town (4,326 MASL /14,189 ft.). Arriving at the community, you will go to Inkintuyoc Bridge where you will take a delicious and complete breakfast.
You will start the trek skirting the route of a beautiful stream. As you climb up you will see the beautiful landscapes and see flocks of Andean camelids as llamas and alpacas. The highest Mountain in the region, “Apu Ausangate”, will show its majesty. You will be amazed by the mystique of the place making you feel all the magic and energy. You will have the opportunity to interact with the community members to learn more about their daily life. Then it’s a box lunch surrounded by this beautiful scenery.
During the walk, you will see potato fields with its different varieties of potatoes. You will also see wild fauna such chinchillas, vicunas and possibly also, if you are lucky, the famous Andean mountain cat.
After approximately 5 hours, you will arrive to the main attraction of this experience: Vinicunca, the Rainbow Mountain (5,020 MASL / 16466 ft.). As a sign of gratitude, we will partake of an old Andean ceremony using coca leaves as an offering to Apu Ausangate (Known as payment of the Earth) for allowing us to get there safely. Then, you will have enough time to explore the area, take photos and renew your energy that will help you start your way back (The time in the mountaintop will be 30 minutes because it will be necessary to have natural light for the descent).
The walk back will take between 4-5 hours until reaching the Inkintuyoc Bridge from here you will be transported back to Cuzco. (Valid from April to October; other date it’s replaced for sacred valley via ferrata & zip-line)
Early breakfast at the hotel then we are off to the Sacred Valley. We will start the tour departing through the fertile countryside and arriving at the colonial town of Pisac. We will be met by a colorful market. Continuing our route through the valley we will be passing by typical towns, till we get to the archaeological province of Urubamba to enjoy a delicious lunch buffet. After, we will visit an ancient but enigmatic Ollantaytambo Fortress located in a typical Inca town, composed by numerous temples and terraces. This archaeological complex is one of the biggest monumental exposures that the Inca have ever done.
Overnight at the Sacred Valley
On the second day, you will visit the Santuario Histórico de Machu Picchu (Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu). Aboard a comfortable train, you will depart for the Aguas Calientes Station, enjoying a spectacular view along the way. Upon arrival, you will board a bus that will take you to the entrance gate of the citadel of Machu Picchu. Rediscovered by Hiram Bingham more than a century ago, Machu Picchu is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Its architectural beauty, spectacular natural landscapes and the energy held in its enigmatic structures will take your breath away. You will follow in the footsteps of the ancient Incans as you explore this magical citadel along with your guide. After the tour, you will stop at a local restaurant for lunch. Time permitting you will be able to head back to the site for a second visit.
At the scheduled time, you will be picked up and taken to Aguas Calientes, where you will return to the your hotel.
Accommodation in Aguas Calientes.
Your morning will be free. You will have the option of visiting the citadel again on your own, if you like. If you are feeling adventurous, you can climb Huayna Picchu*, where you can visit the Templo de la Luna (Temple of the Moon). At the scheduled time, you will board the return train at Aguas Calientes Station. Upon your arrival at the station just outside of Cuzco, a private transport service will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in the city.
*Please be advised that there is a maximum daily number of visitors allowed to climb Huayna Picchu. It is essential that you buy your entry ticket early in advance.
At the scheduled departure time, you will be met by the transport service and escorted to the airport.
Morning flight to Lima . We will pick you up from the airport and take you to your hotel.
18:00 h. You will be picked up from your hotel by our local representative. Afterward we will take a tourist vehicle and will head towards the Magic Water circuit located in the historic Reserve Park. At the park our local guide will take us to see the most impressive fountains and will provide us with an insight into the history of the park. Among the fountains stand out the Tunnel of Surprises where you will be allowed to walk through, the Labyrinth of Dreams Fountain, the Fountain of Life, The Fountain of Illusion, the Magical Fountain and the Fountain of Fantasy that hosts a colorful laser light program complete with music and projected images. The movement of the fountains and program lasts for about 30 minutes and features melodious sounds and music which reveals Peruvian identity. Besides the schedule light and water shows, there are interactive fountains where children of all ages can run into and enjoy the cooling waters. Finally we will drive to the district of Miraflores for a dinner show in one of the best restaurants of Lima. Here we will be able to enjoy a fantastic show of traditional Peruvian dances that features the various geographical areas of Peru: coastal, mountains and jungle, with colorful traditional costumes from each area, a truly spectacular presentation. Marinera Norteña is without doubt the most representative dance in Peru, a very graceful and elegant dance.
